Homosexual Anti-Catholic Bigotry: "But Is It Art?"

This is a sample of what Harvard administrators consider art. While it's bad enough that one of the world's most prestigious schools considers pornography worthy of public display, their mindless message of bigotry is worse. Next to the image of New York's Cardinal O'Connor is a condom; the text below the condom reads "This one prevents AIDS."

Needless to say, the politically correct would condemn display of such trash as a "hate crime" were any of their ilk the target. Mind you, I'm not suggesting the notion of hate as a crime, or as an aggravating element of crime, has any merit; establishment of such a category of crime is merely an effort to further politicize the American judicial system. But if the left is all about acceptance, diversity and fairness, where's the outrage at such blatant Catholic-bashing?

Of course, persecution of the Church is standard operating procedure for many who have problems with the truth. (Those early-morning televangelists who see Revelation unfolding in the latest Arab-Israeli conflict, deride the Rosary as goddess worship and the Eucharist as a papist recipe for hot cross buns spring immediately to mind.) This is why anti-Catholicism often is referred to as the last acceptable prejudice. And why it will be with us until the end of time.

This poster, by the way, is a classic example of radical homosexual irrationality, typical of anti-life propaganda in general. The homosexual activists have it exactly backward. Had these people heeded Catholic moral teaching (again, the truth) they never would have contracted and spread AIDS. Instead, they thumbed their noses at the natural law, engaged in the most bizarre forms of physical abuse and, well, the rest is history.

It might seem ironic that the condom has become a veritable icon of homosexual culture; it is, after all, a contraceptive. On the other hand, condoms-- indeed, all contraceptives-- serve only one purpose: to reduce the human person to an object of self-gratification. In light of this, it appears sadly appropriate. (S
ee my Jan. 28, 2009 post, "Bailing Out the Latex Industry" and my Apr. 19, 2009 post, "Obama vs. AIDS: Throwing Gasoline on the Fire.")

But I digress.

MassResistance, a pro-family, grassroots movement devoted to reversing Massachusetts' cultural collapse, notified many of us about this travesty yesterday. Their website (http://www.massresistance.org/) includes the following timely observation:

If you want to know what Americans can expect in public schools, look no further. Kevin Jennings is Barack Obama's "safe schools" czar in the US Department of Education. He's also the founder of the national homosexual group GLSEN, which sets up "gay straight alliance" clubs in high schools and middle schools across America. GLSEN is officially supported by the Massachusetts Legislature.

Jennings is also a former member of the radical homosexual group "Act Up", and he contributed to this depraved and offensive museum exhibit on "Act Up" now at Harvard University (see press release) .

This exhibit is a window into what the homosexual movement thinks of you, your children, religion, and America. It involves sexual perversion, child pornography, and anti-Catholic bigotry. And it's what your "safe schools" czar Kevin Jennings supports.

It's at Harvard University's prestigious Carpenter Center for the Visual Arts from Oct. 15 through Dec. 23, 2009.

Bill Donohue of the Catholic League (http://www.catholicleague.org/) added this earlier today:

On September 23, I wrote a news release on the curious moral credentials of Kevin Jennings to be President Obama’s Safe Schools Czar: a former drug user and irresponsible teen counselor, he is also a Christian basher. What was not known at the time is that he is also a proud member of ACT UP, the homosexual urban terrorist group that broke into St. Patrick’s Cathedral in 1989 and disrupted Mass; the Eucharist was desecrated and obscene depictions of Cardinal O’Connor were posted.

Now a group called MassResistance, and the website WorldNetDaily, have exposed Jennings as a member of ACT UP. And he is no mere member: Jennings is listed as a donor to a sick display, “ACT UP New York: Activism, Art, and the AIDS Crisis, 1987-1993,” currently featured at the Harvard Art Museum. Harvard, of course, would never feature a display of Klan paraphernalia and say it was being done for the purpose of “dialogue.”

The real story here is not the corruption of Harvard—that’s old hat—the real story is the president of the United States choosing a morally challenged anti-Catholic homosexual to join his team. That Jennings belongs to, and sponsors, an urban terrorist organization, should alone disqualify him from public service at a municipal level. And remember, Obama did not choose him to monitor global cooling—he was chosen to instruct youth on moral matters.

Catholics deserve to know why Obama likes Jennings.

  1. given the number heterosexual couples compared to homosexual couples and the number of heterosexual couples that practice some form of anal stimualtion(the anus is an errogenous zone..wikipedia)there are probably more heterosexuals indulging in anal sex than homosexuals. and they do it without any recrimination from any institution.

homosexuals have never been found wanting in any sector of society compared to heterosexuals, they are not less a father, friend pastor, engineer, counselor, teacher, neighbor, or brother etc.

the same is true of their intimate relations. their devotion, commitment, sincerity of heart is the same as any heterosexual.

so what is it that you have against homosexuality?

    because of christianity?

the new covenant of christ does not have a relationship to god thru regulation as in deut 28, but instead directly to the spirit of the triune god that lives in each believer. the new covenant is without regulation.

jesus did not say you will recognize them by how they abide by YOUR INTERPRETATION OF THE LAW,............instead he said you will recognize them by their fruit..........the fruit of the spirit of christ that is in them............(gal5)love, joy, peace, kindness, patience ,gentleness, self-control, goodness, and faithfulness.

  2. "...there are probably more heterosexuals indulging in anal sex than homosexuals. and they do it without any recrimination from any institution."

Have I singled-out homosexuals about this? Re-read the post.

"homosexuals have never been found wanting in any sector of society compared to heterosexuals, they are not less a father, friend pastor, engineer, counselor, teacher, neighbor, or brother etc."

Homosexual behavior is destructive, not only for those who engage in it, but for society. One need only look at today's culture; the global spread of AIDS is only one-- and not even the worst-- result of uninhibited homosexual behavior.

"so what is it that you have against homosexuality? because of christianity?"

As for this and the rest of your comment, it's quite obvious you embrace an unorthodox concept of God and Christianity. I don't have the time to go into this deeply, but I'll try to get the proper Christian understanding across...

God made human beings in His image; a proper understanding of God must include relationship, the relationship of Person to Person that is the Trinity. This is what we mean by "His image." The human being is meant for relationship; this is where marriage becomes a means of sanctification, where man and woman, as husband and wife, reflect the beauty of the Trinity. It requires the selfless, unrestricted, complete giving of one to the other in all aspects of life, including sexual intercourse. Such a relationship is impossible between two persons of the same gender.

This is made perfectly clear in the Scriptures of both the Old and New Testaments. Of course, if you wish to dispense with the teaching authority of the One, Holy, Catholic & Apostolic Church, you are free to do so; this is, after all, what relativism is all about. It's the magic by which the Bible can mean anything to anyone at any time, condoning anything and everything.

With the result, of course, that it means nothing at all.

  3. in africa aids has contributed to 30 million orphans...............all from heterosexual sex.

man bonding with woman is but one possibility, there is no "only" in genesis or matthew 19.

you are adding your own stroke to the law, in spite of jesus saying how important each stroke was.

you are placing physicality above spirit. you are saying that although homosexuals bond in the same spirit as heterosexuals, out of mutual love, respect, devotion, affection, and trust for a shared committed life together it is a sin because they are of the same gender.

you are escribing regulation to the new covenant of christ and in effect are keeping one foot firmly planted in the old covenant and its relationship to god thru regulation as in deut 28.

when we know our relationship is to god is directly to the spirit of the triune god who lives in each believer as identified by the torn curtain.

surely you know "that anything named old will become obsolete and soon pass away."heb8

bottom line : you are trumping scripture with church doctrine. historically when ever the catholic church has done this, it has been disasterous.

in truth scripture has never said that homosexuality was a sin. not from lev where not all prohibitons of themselves were sins, to romans which identifies heterosexual relationships, because homosexuals do not have women, not from there earliest sexual memory, to the epistles where a fraudulent victorian era transpositon was attempted in scripture from a culture where homosexual sex had been punishable by hanging for 400 years. the transposition was done where there was no seperation between church and state, without any written explanation, king henry, another head of the church having instituted the punishment.

"in africa aids has contributed to 30 million orphans... all from heterosexual sex."

I did not claim homosexuals started the AIDS problem. But homosexual activity was a major factor in making AIDS a global epidemic. Homosexuals traveling from industrialized countries to the third world, where they took advantage of young male prostitutes who sold themselves for next to nothing, spread the virus world-wide.

Among other nonsense, you state that I'm "trumping scripture with church doctrine... when ever the catholic church has done this, it has been disasterous... in truth scripture has never said that homosexuality was a sin."

As a matter of fact, Scripture clearly and explicitly condemns homosexual activity; only the most bizarre revisionist twisting can refute this.

And what's this nonsense about Catholic doctrine "trumping" Scripture, that this has been "disasterous"? How absurd. Catholic doctrine is based on Sacred Scripture and Sacred Tradition, both of which are sources of revelation. And if you want to talk about disaster, look what you're defending-- a desperately twisted notion of the Word of God that seeks to defend disgusting behavior which ruins lives, destroys families and spreads an incurable disease around the world.

Geez, do I have to paint a picture for you? If you can't figure out from your own plumbing, what good is my argument, let alone the Bible? Look at nuts and bolts, hoses and sprinklers! Hey, if there were no electrical sockets in your home, only the cords of houselhold appliances, what would work in your home? IT'S NOT ROCKET SCIENCE! Birds and bees understand this. It's not called "natural law" for nothing!

    ReplyDelete
  5. the anus is an errogenous zone(wikipedia) did god make a mistake. and anal orgasms are possible.

so you are saying that our plumbing and not spirit determines what is sin.

what was jesus talking about when he said you will know them by their fruit...........fruit of the spirit that is in them.....love, joy, peace, kindness, gentleness,self-control,patience, faithfulness, and goodness.

a person is attracted to the same sex since his first sexual memory. its an attraction of bonding, of a sexual nature because that is part of human bonding for a shared committed life together.

but you are saying it is a sin over plumbng?

there are those heterosexuals who marry even when one is in capable of any sex because of injury, or birth disability, because they are given the word (matt 19) to marry. they married not having the right plumbing.

there is no natural law. the entire law is summed by the 2nd commandment.....love your neighbor......

the new covenant is without regulation.

in christ even when we sin it is not about violating the law but about not loving.

    Galatians 5:13-15 (New International Version)

13You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature[a]; rather, serve one another in love. 14The ENTIRE LAW is summed up in a single command: "Love your neighbor as yourself."[b] 15If you keep on biting and devouring each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other.

  10. The Gospel reading last Sunday was Mark 10:46-52. It's a beautiful, pithy allegory; every word has meaning. Perhaps the most important part is this:

So they called the blind man, saying to him, "Take courage; get up, Jesus is calling you." He threw aside his cloak, sprang up, and came to Jesus. Jesus said to him in reply, "What do you want me to do for you?" The blind man replied to him, "Master, I want to see."

And Bartimaeus received his sight. Why? Because he "threw aside his cloak." That is, he threw aside that which hindered him, that which kept him blind. Bartimaeus "sprang up" in pursuit. And what was the first thing Bartimaeus saw? Christ, Truth personified.

This, feetxxxl, is what we are called to do. We must throw off what blinds us. In this case, it is a desire to read into Scripture, to find in Christianity, an excuse for homosexual behavior.

  11. you are not addressing any of my points. you appear to be speaking out of belief system or mindset, and not of the spirit. the spirit has no problem addressing points.

    Romans 8:13-15 (New International Version)
13For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live, 14because those who are led by the Spirit of God are the SONS OF GOD. 15For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship.[a] And by him we cry, "Abba,[b] Father."

    what is leading you?

  12. 46Then they came to Jericho. As Jesus and his disciples, together with a large crowd, were leaving the city, a blind man, Bartimaeus (that is, the Son of Timaeus), was sitting by the roadside begging. 47When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!"
48Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, "Son of David, have mercy on me!"
49Jesus stopped and said, "Call him." So they called to the blind man, "Cheer up! On your feet! He's calling you." 50Throwing his cloak aside, he jumped to his feet and came to Jesus.
51"What do you want me to do for you?" Jesus asked him.
The blind man said, "Rabbi, I want to see."
52"Go," said Jesus, "your faith has healed you." Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road.
i dont see how the cloak was preventing the man from going to christ. while he had it on he shouted out, even when others told hime to be quiet. he openly expressed his desire to to be healed, and his belief that christ could heal him. he openly expressed his heart. he could have walked up to christ with or without his cloak. how can a piece of apparel prevent what one sees with his heart? surely cloaks were designed to be worn by a walking person. i would say that shedding of the cloak was an act of exuberance of his expressed heart that he wanted to shed anything that would lessen the speed at which he could get to christ.

  13. under the new covenant we are to test everything, to see if the essence of the spirit of our understandings and the understandings of others are of christ.

    1 John4
1Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but TEST the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, 3but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.

    Romans 12
    Living Sacrifices
1Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual[a] act of worship. 2Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to TEST and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

    1 Thessalonians 5
21Test everything. Hold on to the good. 22Avoid every kind of evil.

do you credit yourself thru the grace of christ to be able to test what is of christ, or do feel you have to rely on others.

what then are you to say at the judgement. "i could not trust my own heart, that is filled with your spirit and grace because you live in me. instead i followed without question what others told me to follow.

What kind of a source is wikopedia? Peole go into wikopedia to change it to say whatever they want.

You also presume the heterosexuals commonly have anal sex. What basis do you have for that presumption? Certainly not my experience. I've been married for 20+ years. Nor has any married friend I know ever indicated to me that he/she particpates in that. Sure, some do, but how common it is would be anyone's guess.

The rest of your commnets are pretty much just dribble.

Let me quote you something from the Catechism of the Catholic Church, the Church that decided the books of the Bible, the Church that wrote the New Testament, the one inspired interpreer of the inspired text.

"Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity, tradition has always declared that homosexual acts intrinsically disordered. They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved."

Cited are Gen 19:1 - 29 (which is about as crystal clear as a citation can be); Romans 1:24-27, 1 Cor 6:10; 1 Tim 1:10

Homosexual actions, not homosexuality are one of the six sins that cry out to God. Below is an excerpt from an article on this topic.

To struggle with same-sex attractions is not the same as being “gay.” To accept the term “gay” implies an acceptance of an ideology—- the gay agenda, which rejects Catholic teaching on sexual morality. In this, the “gay agenda” is hand-in-hand with the abortion agenda, which attacks the family as the basic unit of society and denies the sinfulness of sexual behavior outside of marriage.

Though it is often forgotten—- or neglected-- these two sins also represent two of the four sins described in Scripture as sins that cry out to God for vengeance: sodomy and murder of the innocent. The fact that this sounds so harsh to modern ears indicates how far from God we have slid down the slippery slope.

This is not to place certain people under condemnation; all have sinned and have fallen short of the glory of God. It does, however, call for the serious Christian to seek to understand and obey these teachings through prayer and study. Both of these sins, unchecked, have the power to destroy a society in a unique way. Both involve the misuse of sex in a slovenly and even recreational way which leads to dissolution and addiction. It makes an idol out of sex and necessarily cuts it off from God’s purposes for procreation (here we see the seriousness of the sin of contraception). We see a moral chaos all around us that is reminiscent of St. Paul’s description of the Pagans of his day recorded in Romans 1: 18-32. Read it!

I have had homosexual friends say to me, “Your Church says I’m intrinsically evil!” I say, “No it doesn’t. It says certain behaviors are intrinsically evil. It says the homosexual condition is intrinsically disordered. Welcome to the club. All of us have to deal with the disorder of sin in our hearts and the evil of sin in actions. What it comes down to is where you find your identity: Do you reduce your entire God-given identity to sexuality, or are you a child of God like everyone else, who must struggle with sin in your life and heavy, seemingly unfair crosses in this life on the road to Paradise?”

The essence of this journey is not identifying ourselves with what is opposed to God, but surrendering ourselves to His mercy and care, especially what is too heavy for us, and repenting when we stumble and staying the course.

    Peace,
    Mark

P.S. Your lifestyle is utlimately going to kill you. First it will kill your body. Unless you are willing to repent, it will kill your soul. You don't realize it, but you have a friend in John Borra. He is trying to help you save both.

I cannot put it any better than Mark has.

It strikes me that the most telling aspect of homosexuality is that the life of the homosexual is rooted in, is characterized by, is conditional upon sexual behavior. Your posts appear as an effort to deny this by frequent reference to "the spirit." Herein lies a glaring inconsistency.

The Gospel calls us to abandon living for the gratification of the flesh for living in the spirit.

The normal, healthy heterosexual can be chaste, can be celebate and maintain his heterosexual identity. But the homosexual cannot; his very identity is rooted in sexual activity. The spiritual aspect of his life is therefore subordinated to the flesh.

We cannot forget that the homosexual lifestyle is not only sterile, it is destructive. It does not reflect the creativity of God which, through the marital act, brings forth the family, the fundamental building block of society. Today, we see the bitter fruits of this sterility very clearly in a culture of acquisition that considers offspring as burdonsome. Need I point out the spiritual effects of such selfishness? The economic and political ramifications alone are clear to any and all; we see it every day on the evening news.

  16. Another point that I haven't emphasized is this: the universal (i.e., Catholic) Church, founded by Christ, is the instrument of God. As such, it posseses His authority to teach the faith handed down by the Apostles, through the early Church Fathers, through His bishops to the world today.

One of the amusing comments you've made is that I'm "trumping scripture with church doctrine" and that "when ever the catholic church has done this, it has been disasterous."

Yet you yourself refer to the "triune God." Now, tell me, where in Scripture do you find "triune God"? You don't. The doctrine of the Trinity was discerned by the Church.

You don't seem to realize that the religious truths you do accept were handed down to you by the very Church you condemn as disastrous. Yet you reject other truths, those which conflict with your particular notion of right & wrong. This is the source of your grief; it's also the source of considerable inconsistency in protestant versions of Christianity and in dissident-Catholic revisionism.

Pride is the problem, my friend; humility is the answer. Humility opens us up to the Truth. It's something I pray for all the time; I have to, because I, too, have a problem with pride. We all do. It's our human nature, it's what got Adam and Eve into trouble.

Humility is Mary's beauty, what gave her the ability to say, "let it be done to me" that allowed Truth Himself to enter our world.

Humility made Mary the perfect model of Christian perfection we must seek to emulate. If you really want to understand God and Christianity, you can do no better than to pray to Mary for help. Pray the Ave Maria, the most efficacious of prayers:

Hail Mary, Full of Grace, the Lord is with Thee. Blessed art thou amongst women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

I deleted your last comments for two reasons.

First, they were redundant. If you'd contributed something new to the conversation, fine, I'd certainly have permitted that. As you might have noticed, my blog is rather economical, as reflected in my style as both a writer and illustrator; I'd like to keep the exchange of comments tidy as well. My intention is not to hinder your expression.

Secondly, you indicated you were done with the discussion, closing with the phrase "See ya." I'd just posted my suggestion that we pray to the Mother of God; since all people should do this-- regardless of who they are and what they might believe-- I felt this was an appropriate way to close the discussion.

However, you've now brought up points I wish to address and something else I'd like to suggest...

You state that "in christ we agree in more and in more important things than we disagree." I wish this were true, but I doubt it is. Your comments indicate a belief that God actually endorses, or at the very least does not condemn, homosexual behavior; nothing could be farther from the truth. Revisionist deconstruction of Scripture is a terrible abuse. I'm not suggesting you're not well meaning, but clearly you've been misled. Such error has its origin, ultimately and literally, in Hell. The Father of Lies delights in such deception.

If man can twist Scripture to mean anything, then it means nothing. This is why God gave us the Church as His unerring interpreter of His Word.

Then you quote the following: "For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse."

You commented earlier that there "is no natural law." But what do you think the above quotation makes reference to? It's the natural law, knowledge of right and wrong that's written on the human heart and "being understood from what has been made..."

This is precisely why "men are without excuse," whether they are of Judeo-Christian heritage or not. This is why no one can justify abortion or any other form of homocide.

And it's why homosexual behavior cannot be justified or condoned. No matter the cause of homosexual attraction, it is an affliction. But, hey, all of us are afflicted by something; we're all "broken." It's a part of our human nature.

I need to close for the moment, but I also need to leave you with this: If you have access to the internet, you have access to EWTN, the global Catholic television network. There is so much excellent programming available there to help you, me, everyone-- Catholic or not (www.ewtn.org).

Among the great programs is Johnnette Benkovic's, whose website is found at www.lhla.org/. Her program is entitled "Living His Life Abundantly." I strongly encourage you to check out the program schedule at the EWTN website for her next broadcast; this morning's episode featured an interview with Fr. Tom Euteneuer and was about exactly what we're discussing: how Satan makes good appear evil and evil appear good.

PLEASE do yourself a favor and go there.
